"Beyond the Galaxy" was the internationally highly praised first CD the German electronic music project COSMIC HOFFMANN introduced itself with in 1999.

Klaus Hoffmann-Hoock (the creative mastermind behind this formation) had already debuted under the pseudonyme COSMIC HOFFMANN in 1976. In 1982 he released a 7’ single entitled “Cosmic Hoffmann — Weltraumboogie“ on EMI. In spite of the long pause the idea of COSMIC HOFFMANN has never been put aside and has always shone through in Hoffmann's other musical enterprise, the successful and internationally acclaimed MIND OVER MATTER band project which has released nine albums on Germany's IC label so far. In a similar fashion as in MIND OVER MATTER, Hoffmann has invited various guests in order to help him realize his musical visions. On "Beyond the Galaxy" and on the brandnew “SHIVA CONNECTION“-CD Germany's Stephen Parsick - aka as a soloist and as part of RAMP - has performed as a congenial partner.

COSMIC HOFFMANN’s music is an exploration of the free-roaming psychedelic form of electronic music of the early 1970s following the path that was once paved by groups like PINK FLOYD, TANGERINE DREAM and ASH RA TEMPEL. Cosmic textures from Moog Synthesizers and the MEGATRON, a digital Mellotron created by Hoffmann, are densely interwoven with his guitarwork and meditative elements of far-eastern music, elements that have always had a great influence on Hoffmann's music in the past.

The new “SHIVA CONNECTION“-CD covering a wide range of inspired spontaneous studio- and livework recorded between the years 1977 and 2000 is a spheric and highly psychedelic soundtrack for an imaginary spaceflight through the universe’s world of stars and galaxies full of mystery and adventure. It contains 73:55 minutes of floating and often sequenced sounds with loads of unusual textures and ( of course ) tons of Mellotron/MEGATRON taken from a 1965 MkII Mellotron. This is for sure the spaceyest work COSMIC HOFFMANN has ever have done in the last 30 years and it continues the thread that was first woven by albums as PHAEDRA and RUBYCON.

The musical style was typified as a meditative journey; melodic themes in an ambient space music style, full of gentle motion.
